It all started with HBO's Big Love. Polygamy finally became "sexy." After all, you have Bill Henrickson and his three dutiful wives, who gets all the sex he wants...including that from young Margene.
Despite the fan base, Big Love is fiction. Polygamy doesn't really exist...
Or does it?
It does. It's illegal in Utah, but it exists. Although Kody Brown is only legally married to one wife, cohabitation is enough in Utah to make polygamists and is a felony crime (although one that's rarely prosecuted.)
The Brown family receives a lot of criticism...but I only think that's because people are scared of what's different. The only problem I see with their lifestyle is the impact it has on the children, who have to home school and live life in secret.
But to each their own. They seem happy...and that's all that matters. I just hope that their criminal investigation doesn't end their show for once and for all.
Below is a video which discusses the Sister Wives show, plus a host of other entertainment subjects.
People are not "scared of what's different." They are appalled that these ignorant women don't realize they have placed themselves and their children in a dangerous dependent position. Only the first woman is the legal wife, the rest are merely concubines in Kody the Copulator's harem and face poverty. As concubines they are not entitled to share in his health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, or pension schemes. God help them if a health crisis blows up, because they'll be on their own. And how can Kody the Copulator help his 16 kids with their university fees when the time comes? Polygamy comes from the dark ages when women were nothing but chattels, and that's what these women are -- chattels serving a self-centered little man. They should wake up and smell the coffee, if not for themselves then for their children. The yearr is 2010 AD. not 2010 BC..
ReplyDeleteYou know I cannot understand this. Why? Why can't the women have multiple husbands then? Obviously they do not realize how stupid they are. This is a sin in my book. And it is against the Law, from what I understand. So how are you getting away with showing this on TV.
ReplyDeleteAll I can do is shake my head in wonder......
Shame on you. What did this man do for a living, before TLC came along? Was the show his idea, did he approach your show?
I bet he did.
And as for BIG LOVE it is fake, not real, not a reality show. Please. Do you see, I don't see sexy in either show fact or fiction.
ReplyDeleteIt is a CHOICE that these women have. And is it any worse than a man that sleeps around and then abandons obligation? I think that it could very well be an intellegent business choice. You have so many benifeits one of which is NOT dealing with your husband or your children all by yourself.
ReplyDeleteI think if you really believe that you have a powerful and good GOD, its a matter of praying & asking it from HIM just have the virtue patience... You'll see, everything will comes smoothly,in HIS perfect time!
