Solomon Burke Dead, Dies at Age 70

Solomon Burke dead, dies at age 70. Solomon Burke, soul singer, died at age 70. Burke was a Rock and Roll hall of fame inductee and was the singer of the 1964 hit "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love." He also sang the song "Cry to Me" to which Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze danced in "Dirty Dancing."

Solomon Burke was scheduled to perform in the Netherlands this week, and that is where he passed on. He was a frontrunner in soul music and a very talented musician whose works were recorded by the likes of the Rolling Stones.

Burke influenced Marvin Gaye, James Brown, and other well-known and respected artists. He accepted with frustration that he didn't reach the same fame as some of those that he influenced greatly.

Burke died on a plane of natural causes. He was traveling to perform at a sold out show in Amsterdam. Solomon Burke dead, dies at age 70.
