Transgender Woman Lana Lawless Sues LPGA Over Birth Rule

Lana Lawless sues LPGA over the birth rule. Lana Lawless is a transgendered woman, and she's suing the LPGA over the birth rule. Basically, the LPGA only allows women in the tour who were actually born women.

That discounts Lana Lawless, who feels that this is discriminatory. She's filed suit in her home state of California, which also seeks an injunction to prohibit the LPGA and the LDA from holding tournaments in the state until the discriminatory rules are dropped.

She was the champion of the LDA tour, and after she won the championship in 2008 the organization changed their rules to mirror the LPGA rules.

Lawless claims that her testosterone levels are well below the high end of those of naturally born women, and therefore she should be able to compete. Transgendered individuals are allowed to compete in the Olympics as women, but with stipulations.

Lawless claims that the LPGA birth rule is discriminatory, and as such she wants the rules changed. Would this pose unfair competition to other LPGA members?

  1. Tiger Woods can't play on the LPGA either. Discrimination? Chopping your balls off doesn't make you woman. Sorry. This GUY shouldn't be allowed to play on the LPGA.
