Magic Johnson Sells Shares Of Lakers To Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. Earvin "Magic" Johnson has sold a 4.5% ownership stake in the LA Lakers to Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, a long time season ticket holder in a transaction that many speculate is clearing the way for Johnson to take a larger ownership percentage of another NBA team, namely the Detroit Pistons.

Magic Johnson purchased his share of the team for $10 million back in the 1990's. He's been an owner for a number of years, as well as actually playing for the team during his phenomenal career.

Dr Patrick Soon-Shiong is a South-African American Biotech investor, that's listed by Forbes as #46 wealthiest in the US.
