The Social Network, AKA “The Facebook Movie” brought in millions at the box office this weekend. Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake, The Social Network is an Oscar-worthy film about the scandalous beginnings of the largest social networking site in the world.
Of course, the true creator of the real-life Web site claims that the movie is just fiction, and discounts several parts of the storyline. Still yet, when the film made its debut at the New York film festival, Zuckerberg made a hefty donation to the Newark schools. How much $100 million.
Before the debut of the movie as well, it was announced that the creator was #35 on the Forbes 400 list.
The scandal and the sheer popularity of Facebook has made the movie a viral success. Whether you like Zuckerberg or not, you have to admire the fact that he’s so young, yet he’s one of the wealthiest people in our country. He’s even wealthier than Steve Jobs!
According to NJ Star Ledger, The Social Network brought in $23 million at the box office this weekend, and was the #1 movie there.
I have yet to see The Social Network, but it’s on my shortlist of films to go see. From what I hear, it’s a pretty good movie and one that a computer nerd like me shouldn’t miss.
