"Big Love" Canceled By HBO As TLC's "Sister Wives" Gains Popularity

HBO's "Big Love" has been canceled, and will air no more after the 5th season. "Big Love" is petering out as TLC's reality series "Sister Wives" is gaining steam. Given the fascination with polygamy, you would think that HBO would ride the series out.

However, as much as I love "Big Love" things got a little wild n' wacky on the show. The first season was great. It was everything you'd expect from an HBO series - plenty of drama, sex, and believable situations.

However, during the fourth season you go from four people trying to live life low profile to a circus involving a jewelry company, a home improvement store, a casino on an Indian reservation, murder, and government investigations.

For all of us who like "Big Love" we can hope and pray that Kody Brown and his wives are able to keep up their series "Sister Wives." It's an honest look into the polygamous lifestyle, and don't forget to watch a special which airs on Sunday.

Robyn Sullivan Marries Kody Brown Wife #4

Robyn Sullivan marries Kody Brown wife #4. In the guilty pleasure that is the Sister Wives, tonight during the season finale, Kody takes on wife #4, Robyn Sullivan. Robyn is a divorcee with three kids, with one child having special needs.

Robyn was moved by the family to a home near the main Brown family home. How the wives share Kody and how Kody has time for all his wives is curious to me.

For some reason or another we are intrigued with the Browns, and the addition of wife #4 is something that will likely affect their family during their criminal investigation. Polygamy is a felony in Utah.

Which brings me to one pressing question: why don't they just move to California?

That being said, click here to watch a video about TLC's Sister Wives and tune in to the show to see Robyn Sullivan marries Kody Brown - wife #4.

Sister Wives Airs

Sister Wives Airs tonight on TLC. Kody Brown is married to three wives, and tonight on the season finale of Sister Wives, he will add a fourth to his lineup. The Brown family has been criticized for their lifestyle, yet everyone is drawn to their series.

It all started with HBO's Big Love. Polygamy finally became "sexy." After all, you have Bill Henrickson and his three dutiful wives, who gets all the sex he wants...including that from young Margene.

Despite the fan base, Big Love is fiction. Polygamy doesn't really exist...

Or does it?

It does. It's illegal in Utah, but it exists. Although Kody Brown is only legally married to one wife, cohabitation is enough in Utah to make polygamists and is a felony crime (although one that's rarely prosecuted.)

The Brown family receives a lot of criticism...but I only think that's because people are scared of what's different. The only problem I see with their lifestyle is the impact it has on the children, who have to home school and live life in secret.

But to each their own. They seem happy...and that's all that matters. I just hope that their criminal investigation doesn't end their show for once and for all.

Below is a video which discusses the Sister Wives show, plus a host of other entertainment subjects.

Sister Wives Airs Tonight on TLC

Sister Wives airs tonight on TLC, and the previews for Sister Wives season 1 episode 3 include Kody Brown saying "I don't want to be kissing my girlfriend while my wife is in labor." Meri Brown talks of "jealousy issues" and girlfriend Robyn wonders if she will get to go see Christine's baby, which will end up being her daughter too.

Sister Wives is about real life polygamists living in Utah. Kody is a 40 something man who has been with the same three women for many years, and is for the first time courting someone. That someone is Robyn and she's the "hot" one of the group. Christine was upset that Kody kissed Robyn before they were married because Christine didn't kiss her husband until they were at the alter because she didn't "feel right" kissing a "married man."

It's like the real life version of HBO's Big Love, minus the homicidal cult leaders, polygamist compound politics, and Indian reservation casino drama (if you haven't watched Big Love, never mind this part.)

So how do three women deal with sharing a husband, family, and home? Tune in to TLC later tonight to find out and watch Sister Wives. It airs at 10/9c.
